(Ductal
carcinoma, Her 2 positive, estrogen positive) that was my diagnosis. Stage 2 A
I
had no idea there were so many types of breast cancer and so many aspects. There is triple negative
and progesterone positive and inflammatory and many more. And it is not
uncommon for women to have more than one type in their breast cancer. I don’t fully understand that yet, but I will
by the time I am on the other side of this stupid C…..
I want to know
everything I can…KNOWLEDGE is POWER..and I am fighting for my life!!
WOMEN.............. you need to know 1 out of 8 women will get breast cancer in their liftetime - that is an epidemic in my mind!!!
I am learning how to change my attitude towards food. All
the tasty sweet sugary, fat filled, additives and things we cannot pronounce
are leaving my life. As my son put it “ we need to think of food as medicinal
not for pleasure”. I am starting to read ALL my labels and looking for hormone
free beef and chicken. I am now on the same quest as many – looking for FOOD
that has been unaltered in any way or as little as possible. Which is not easy
when you live in rural America. It seems like a daunting task. Grocery shopping
takes long enough, but now I have to read each label?? But is important to my
health. I have to pay attention if I want to keep cancer at bay.
I will just have to learn how to find more pleasure in
other things, since it will not be in
food like it used to be…..I will miss you M&M’s
Our son Jace is my teacher.
I actually started being a naturalist
as far as learning about herbs and more natural ways to fix my family 21 years
ago. I started learning because Jace was diagnosed with ADHD and they wanted
to put him on Ritalin at 4 yrs of age. I was against that so that started my
quest of treating illnesses with more natural food, herbs, food without dyes and artifcial flavors.
But I admit working full time did not
allow me to devote as much time as I should have. And some of the things we thought were healthy 15 years ago....are no longer thought of as healthy.
However, I did the next best
thing. By living this way for 21 of his 25 years Jace has taken it a step
further and learned MUCH more than me. I am so proud of him and happy to see
this part of him grow. His life as an adult will be sooo much healthier than any of
ours, because he started so young. His knowledge of our bodies and how the
foods are used is impressive. I am excited and humbled by the wealth of
knowledge he has gained just in the last few years. I love him so much.
I know his help will be an
important part of my journey and my beating this cancer.
